This is one of my husband's favorite movies and I got to be the one to introduce him to it!! I am such a Heath Ledger fan and he's so boyfriend in this movie I love it. The school is so fuckin fancy and cool and all the teenagers are comically polished and smart which makes it such a fun watch. The thing about girls owning black underwear meaning they want someone to see it seared itself into my teenage psyche and I definitely deliberately wore black underwear many times for the good luck. I grew my hair out long because I think Julia Stiles is so slay as Kat and I definitely have an unconscious outfit bias from this movie. The plot is so 1999 in a fun way but I can't believe they had her flash her tits at the teacher to get him out of detention, however I would totally do that. Also as a proud bitch teenage girl I loved that Kat never became nice, SHE'S NOT NICE!!!! and she still got a hot boyfriend. I think the poem is so cringe and I'd die if I was in class while someone read that but for movie land it works
I fixed my bike tire at the community bike resource center and the following conversation ensued:
guy tightening my spokes: have you ever seen 10 things i hate about you?
me: yes i love 10 things i hate about you!!!
guy: i can't remember her name but you look like the girl in that movie
me (growing visibly excited): the nice sister or the mean sister?
guy: the mean one
me: *unintelligible whooping and hooting*
it was very exciting and my favorite compliment i can remember bc i have been stealing hair and clothing inspo from this movie for YEARS bc kat is literally my dream woman she's so hot and real. teenage dreams come true, maybe i should find some wedge flipflops so i get julia stiled everyday.
