I think this book is where I go "oh maybe I just like the first two actually". It's not that The Wizards of Caprona is bad, but it pales in comparison to its phenomenal predecessors (Charmed Life and The Lives of Christopher Chant). I like this book because the main character can talk to cats the exact same way I can talk to cats but better because he's a wizard. WOC feels more for children much more than the first two books, but all three very excellently capture what it is like to be a child. I read this a few weeks ago and put off the review bc the book was not very memorable. I think I find this one less interesting bc Chrestomanci plays a much smaller role and the setting is Caprona, Italy not the Chrestomanci castle like the first two.
